Young Miss Holmes by Kaoru Shintani

“Young Miss Holmes” is an adaptation of the classic Sherlock Holmes mysteries but with a twist in the form of a plucky 10-year old, Miss Crystal “Christie” Margaret Holmes, Sherlock’s niece. Miss Christie¬†weaves herself into her uncle’s cases although it is still Sherlock who solves the mysteries if he is called upon to solve them. If not, he only appears in the end proud of his niece although finds her detecting skills a bit slow. Well, she is only ten years old! As one police character exclaims in amazement, “Lord above! Has she been like that since she was little?” Her nanny responds, “My lady is still ‘little.'”
